What is an Art Print Poster? Back to the Top
Poster Art also known as Fine Art Poster, originated in Paris around 1850 with the creation of the three color lithograph process. Considered the father of the poster industry, Jules Cheret led the way in providing a low cost medium for advertising, theatrical and sporting events. The new poster printing technology enabled the reproduction of original oil paintings, water colors and other styles, which attracted the attention of countless artists. This in turn made available vast amounts of fine art prints. Fine art poster printing has advance greatly since the 1850s. In today’s lithographic printing process, four to twelve translucent colors plus spot colors are used to produce the fine art prints, with the wide range of colors depicted in the original art. This has improved greatly the quality and availability of Fine Art Print Posters, Movie Posters and other Celebrity and Sports posters.

What is a Canvas Print? Back to the Top
This is an excellent way of improving the look and feel of your favorite Art Print Poster. A canvas print does not require a protective glass. It can be treated and mounted as an original oil painting. There are generally two different ways of producing a canvas art print. The first is the Giclee (pronounced Zhee-Clay) which means “spray”. This entails printing directly onto artist grade canvas. The process is done using very advance plotters and printers, specially made to reproduce art. These systems are calibrated to reproduce fine art and are known for their extremely high quality. The second process is the transfer of an image to a canvas medium. Since fine art prints are also produced to meet high quality standards, the transfer retains the quality and at the same time adds the texture and look of the artist canvas. Also this process can be done from must fine art prints and this enables having a larger selection to choose from.

Another process that can be added to fine art canvas prints is to make the piece look aged or antique. This is done by adding a mixture that will create very fine hairline cracks and a pigmentation to slightly darken the image, thus depicting a piece of art that appears to be hundreds of years old.
